I watched your video on youtube for this and tried to make it. I noticed all the wonderful comments you received and I hate to be the negative one. However, when I tried to follow the video and did exactly what it says which is score at 2 3/4 inches on ALL sides my tray did not turn out right. The paper isn’t actually lined up at 2 3/4 inches when you turn the paper, it’s lined up at the score guide on the envelope punch board which makes a big difference and I ruined the only piece of blue paper I had left in this shade to make a gift for someone! Videos need to be more precise!

I’m very sorry to hear you had some troubles with this design Tammy! I’ve not had anyone contact me regarding the measurements, so I was quite concerned to hear you did have troubles. I have gone back and viewed my video tutorial to make sure of my measurements, and they are correct.

      To to make the base:
      – Line up the left-hand edge of your paper at the 7cm/2-3/4″ line on the EPB.
      – Punch and score, and then continue punching and scoring all around the paper – but you don’t punch and score at the same 7cm/2-3/4″ mark on every edge. You need to use the previous score line as your guide.
      – Repeat again for your second score lines, starting at the 9cm/3-1/2″ mark; punching and scoring the whole way around the paper.

I hope that is a little clearer :)

Yes, I know the measurements are correct; but the thing I didn’t realize from the video is that you’re supposed to use the previous score line. I guess everyone else knew that.

Apologies Tammy, the Envelope Punch Board can be a bit tricky to master, especially when customers first start using it – I will make a note for future reference to be more clearer with my tutorials :)

I had a hard time with the EPB at first and did just what Tammy did and got so frustrated Watching a video on how to use it really helped. Tammy, I know how you feel! Love this box. Thanks for the idea.

            July 10, 2015 at 12:05 PM (4 years ago)

It can be very easy to go wrong with the EPB – I felt like a ninny when I ruined the first few envelopes and boxes I tried to make on it! I have since edited the YouTube video comments to state that you only punch and score on one side, THEN turn and follow the original score line around. Thanks for giving this project a go :)

Hi Lavonne, I’d be happy to help :)
When you are scoring for the tray base, score at 2-3/4″ on one side, punch, then turn the cardstock, and follow your previous score lines around the paper, punching as you score. Then continue these steps for your second score line, which starts at 3-1/2″. Hope that helps :)

Hi Kim! For the Sheltering Tree card, the base card layer was stamped with the tree, then the overlying piece was stamped as well. To make this process easier, try using a sheet of acetate or vellum in between; so you can stamp the exact portion of the tree that you want :)

Hi Jeanine! The first card consisted of a base of Very Vanilla cardstock, and the front matt was indeed Watercolor Paper. This was heat embossed using White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, and the ink was washed over using an Aqua Painter. The splatter was heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder, using Gorgeous Grunge :)
