I was feeling inspired by World Cardmaking Day today, so I got into my gear and decided to challenge myself a bit! I haven’t used the Something For Baby stamp set and Baby’s First Framelits bundle since I bought it, so this was the set I was using today.
I had seen these style cards on Pinterest lots of time, but hadn’t seen any door/drawer combination wardrobes, so that was the idea I was playing around with in my mind. This particular design was semi-inspired by Gwen Edelmen – check out her pin here.
I cut my base card from Soft Suede A4 Cardstock, and used the Decorative Label punch on the bottom to give it decorative legs.
I then stamped on the base with the Hardwood background stamp with Soft Suede, and sponged around the edges with the same ink. I cut a small rectangle and a square (which was then cut in half to make two doors) from Soft Suede cardstock, and stamped those with the Hardwood stamp as well, turning the rectangle sideways, so the grain went in the opposite direction to the cupboard doors.
After stamping the Hardwood background stamp, I then attached a piece of Basic Black A4 cardstock to the base card, glued down a thin strip of Silver Foil Sheet to make a hanging rail, and used Sticky Strip down the outer edges of the doors to adhere them. I also attached the small Antique Brads to the doors and drawers. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals on the drawer to give it a ‘slightly ajar’ look.
For the girl version of this card, I stamped two onesies – one in Strawberry Slush, and one in Wisteria Wonder. I stamped the clothes hangers in Pink Pirouette.
Adhering the clothes hangers to the back of the onesies, I ‘hung’ them in the closet on the rail, and attached a small heart stamped in Real Red to the Strawberry Slush onesie; and a flower stamped in Blackberry Bliss, to the Wisteria Wonder onesie.
For the boy version, I stamped the onesies using Tempting Turquoise, and Coastal Cabana. The clothes hangers were stamped with Soft Sky. The small heart on the Tempting Turquoise onesie was stamped with Pacific Point, and the tie on the Coastal Cabana onesie was stamped with Bermuda Bay.
For both cards, I stamped the sentiments using the Something To Say stamp set – the sentiment inside the ‘closet’ was punched out with the Artisan Label punch.
And here’s the finished results! Of course, I couldn’t NOT decorate the envelopes, so they were stamped with co-ordinating ink.
I hope you’ve been as inspired as me. Please feel free to CASE these designs, but don’t forget to mention where you found the inspiration ;)
WHAT YOU WILL NEED FOR THIS PROJECT:
Love this card Racael, I have ‘case’d it and am happy with the way it turned out.
Thank you for sharing.
You’re welcome Joss x
