One thing I love about Summer in Australia, is the all amazing, yummy fruit we have available during the season – one of my favourites being watermelon. My card was inspired by watermelon, and the memories of eating a big wedge of it, on the back steps of my childhood home in the heat of summer.

I started with a card base of thick Basic White. For the card front, I used a base of Flirty Flamingo, and strips of Basic White, Granny Apple Green, and Garden Green. I used a circle and flower punch to cut a ‘bite’ out of the Flirty Flamingo piece, then sponged for definition with Poppy Parade ink.

I then adhered the Basic White, Granny Apple Green and Garden Green pieces, and sponged with Old Olive ink to add definition. I then stamped a dotted image stamp (Tropical Chic) with Memento Black, to act as the seeds.

The card front was then adhered to the card base, and a sentiment (Itty Bitty Greetings) was stamped in the ‘bite’ negative space. To finish the card off, I looped Linen Thread and tied in a bow, and used Clear Wink Of Stella on the white part of the watermelon.

Thank you for popping in to have a look at my creation. Click the NEXT button below to continue the hop, with the very talented Kim up next.
