This month our Stampin’ Up! team, the Inkypinks (led by our wonderful team leader Nicole Wilson!), was set TWO sketch challenges. Either sketch could participated in, or both. I decided to try my hand at incorporating both! :)

These were the two sketches – a layout sketch and a colour challenge. Unfortunately, Strawberry Slush is retiring, and the cardstock and ink refills are now sold out. You could substitute Strawberry Slush for Rose Red as well – it’s duller and darker, but it still works well with Blackberry Bliss and Pool Party.

To get the feel of the sketch, I started playing around with the layout. I used with a top-fold card base of Whisper White cardstock, and layered a slightly smaller piece of Blackberry Bliss over that. I then cut a banner using Strawberry Slush cardstock, a smaller piece of Whisper White cardstock, and a smaller banner using Pool Party cardstock.

Once I was happy with the layout, I embossed the piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock using the Spring Flowers embossing folder in my Big Shot.

I used my Painted Petals photopolymer stamp set, and stamped on the small piece of Whisper White, the stems of the flowers in Pear Pizzaz.

I then used my Strawberry Slush and Pool Party Stampin’ Write markers, to individually colour the co-ordinating flowers. I continued this pattern, also using my Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write maker, until I had a complete floral design.

I love this Painted Petals stamp set so much, I couldn’t stop at just the small piece on the card front – I had to do the inside of the card and the envelope too! :)

Lastly, I stamped “You’re The Best” from the Honeycomb Hello stamp set, but instead of stamping as is, I used my Stamp-A-Majig and Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write marker, to line the words up on one line, on the small banner cut from Pool Party cardstock.

And here’s the final result! I’m really quite pleased with how it turned out, as I was a bit unsure of the colour combo to start with! But I accepted the challenge gladly ;)
